This colorful lidded coil basket was hand-selected in the northern Moroccan mountain town of Chefchaouen. Handwoven using subtly fragrant, naturally sustainable palm leaf, these baskets are traditionally used to transport bread dough to the neighborhood communal oven. Tapering bulbous bottom with a top reminiscent of a nipple.
Multicolored diamond motif design set against a black background. The heavily saturated, naturally dyed colors include: indigo blue, teal, spring green, purple, army green, red, raspberry, grey, and white, with a saffron yellow border surrounding each color. The bottom of the basket is wrapped in a neutral tan wool. Lid can easily be removed for storage.
Every basket is one-of-a-kind. Handmade by native Berber artisans in the Rif Mountains.
