A majestic set of Moroccan doors in the French double-door style. Hand carved from very old antique Kasbah doors made of the fragrant wood of the Tamarisk tree, this expertly crafted door set has been refurbished in the traditional ornate Moroccan style.
The carving on these Moroccan doors is extensive and very finely detailed. Included are shapes representing Islamic doorways, surrounded by inlaid bone and framing various vintage Moroccan silver charms, including the Amazigh symbol of Zed, the free man; two styles of fibula brooches--Berber and Bedouin--used with scarves; a silver camel; and dowsing rods once used to find water. Under the wrought-iron knocker, a hamsa hand made of bone and decorated with henna has been inlaid, and it is surrounded by beautiful Art Nouveau-style carving.
Dark Moroccan silver rivets on the door are carefully placed in the hand-carved lattice design, giving further protection from evil forces and adding even more to the exquisite beauty of the piece. Wrought-iron hardware for the knocker and slide-lock.
Tamarisk wood, also known as salt cedar, ages beautifully. The variances in grain and staining create a beautiful contrast and add a rich warmth to these Moroccan doors.
This beautiful set of hand-carved wooden doors was made in a family Cooperative in the southern Moroccan town of Amazraou, near Zagora. This item was completely handmade in the Tuareg cooperative, using techniques passed down through many generations. These are truly the finest doors you will find in all of Morocco. Absolutely stunning and one of a kind.
