This antique Moroccan bread basket is from the southern Morocco town of Amezrou, near the door to the Sahara Desert. Made in historic Amezrou, the basket is handwoven using subtly fragrant, naturally sustainable palm leaf, and is wrapped with hand-harvested wool dyed with natural organic dyes.
Lovely, cheerful design with a festive spritz of yarn at the top. Very vibrant colors despite age.
These baskets were traditionally used to transport bread dough to the neighborhood communal oven. Wonderful conical shape, reminiscent of a Moroccan tagine. Lid can easily be removed for storage. Nice size, hard to find. Absolutely one-of-a-kind.
Beautiful and functional! More than 100 years old.
Basket measures 39 x 18cm (15 x 7in).
