This beautiful large sterling silver Hamsa hand pendant was handmade in the southern Morocco town of Zagora by a local Berber artisan. Expertly engraved, it features a large oval red carnelian stone "eye" in the palm to protect the wearer from the evil eye, as well as traditional Berber Amazigh tattoo imagery of nomadic tents. Really nice delicate work.
The hamsa hand is ubiquitous throughout Morocco. It is a symbol of creativity, power, and dominance, as well as protection from evil forces and the evil eye. We source our Moroccan jewelry directly from the artisan.
