About Silver Sahara
Silver Sahara is located on the beautiful island of Martha's Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts, with a sister store in Essaouira, Morocco. Silver Sahara features handmade, one-of-a-kind, hand-selected items sourced directly from Morocco and North Africa. Sales of Silver Sahara products directly benefit the artisans and craftsman who created them.
In 2016, Carolina Cooney partnered with Moroccan merchant Mohamed El Fassi to bring his amazing goods worldwide exposure. All of Silver Sahara's jewelry and antiques have been created by the friends and family of the El Fassi silversmiths of Zagora, Morocco, or have been passed down through generations of their Berber tribesman lineage. These offerings are supplemented by regular trips to Morocco to source leather poufs, punched-metal lanterns, thuya wood creations, argan oil, berber carpets and much more. Special orders are welcome!
Silver Sahara was created to show deep gratitude to the beautiful country of Morocco and its high-spirited and talented people. Sales on Silver Sahara help provide artisans with sustainable worldwide sales, resulting in a living wage, better working conditions, and technical training for continued success.
