A highly coveted antique wheat grinder. This large mortar and pestle was created in the late 19th to early 20th century, carved from single piece of wood.
This item was used to mill wheat in southern Morocco. The original mill has been restored and redecorated with large hand-engraved silver melange fibulae on each side, with numerous decorative rivets and large silver melange trumpet flowers. The top and bottom are wrapped in silver melange repousse, and the mortar is inlaid with antique Moroccan coins. The pestle has been further decorated with a silver melange cap.
