This vintage hand-painted hardwood Quranic teaching tablet is predrilled and ready to hang on your wall. The Moroccan tablet is circa mid- to late-20th century (perhaps older) and is from the southern Moroccan desert town of Zagora. Used in schools to teach the Quran, students between the ages of 10-17 would study the tablet for one week, then fast for one week, then study the tablet again.

The tablet is reminiscent of an Illuminated manuscript with intricately hand painted Arabic calligraphy and Islamic design. Slightly polished and smooth from years of use, the center of the tablet is comprised of multiple mosque shapes with Quranic text and is framed with a wide floral border that gives the effect of an actual frame.

The back of the tablet has additional Islamic calligraphy and two large solid blue mosque shapes, written in a much larger hand. This tablet was sourced directly from Zagora, Morocco and is of significant historical and religious value.
