This very large silver Hamsa hand pendant was handmade in the southern Morocco town of Zagora by a local Berber artisan. Boldly engraved, it features a cut-out diamond "eye" in the palm to protect the wearer from the evil eye, as well as zigzag lines, representing the snake and thought to have healing powers. The hamsa hand is ubiquitous throughout Morocco. It is a symbol of creativity, power, and dominance, as well as protection from evil forces and the evil eye.
